Tropical space and Meena

The life size seated cross-legged pose of Meena with hands resting in her lap is combined with an enquiring expression of gentleness. This embodies a feeling of mindfulness, of being at peace in one’s surrounding. The abstracted tropical garden flows behind the figure, the surface treatment includes the use of a power drimmel to create the abstracted vegetation. Layers of the figure and clothes are sanded away to reveal the underpainting of the ground, inviting the viewer to create a closer connection.
